History of the Birthday Ride
The birthday rides began in 1995 when Ken was 62, and have continued every year since with one more mile being added annually.  The course changes each year, most often taking place in Greenbrier or Pocahontas County.  The riders have also travelled the New River Trail and the Virginia Creeper Trail,  in Virginia.   Participants have varied from year to year, but most are repeat performers.  As few as 3 or as many as 16 have gone the distance.  Ken has completed the ride every year.  For more information about Ken Doss click here:  http://www.wvmountainbike.com/id15.html
 
Come and Join Us
This year the 73 mile ride is a simple out and back on the Greenbrier River Trail, beginning at milepost 45.8 at Seebert at 8:00 a.m.  Riders will travel north to the Cass Trailhead near milemarker 79 before returning to the starting point, then travelling south 2 miles to Watoga Campground, and returning to Seebert.  Some riders will opt for shorter courses by turning back at Marlington (a 20.5 mile ride) or at Sharp's Tunnel (a 40 mile ride).  You can ride as much or as little as you desire!

A sagwagon with drinks and snacks will be provided at periodic rest stops along the trail.  If you need other supplies hauled, be there early to make arrangements.  Ken has graciously offered to feed us lunch.  Details will be available that morning before the ride.   I suggest you arrive around 7:30 a.m. to make sure you get last minute details.

We'll have a group get together on Saturday evening at Watoga Residence #4. Bring food to share and your own drinks.  We have some singers/ songwriters/ musicians in the group who do a little pickin'.   If you play an instrument, bring it along.  If not, come anyway and enjoy to fun.
