Press Release 6.30.2007
The 2nd Annual
St. Albans Grand Prix
event supporting the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
DATE: Sat. 6-2-2007
LOCATION: St. Albans, WV
written by Amy Dunkin SAGP event co-organizer
The 2nd Annual St. Albans Grand Prix was burining the streets up on this hot June race day. Thanks to all the great cyclists who came out and competed for the cash prize purse, primes, medals, and merchandise. Everyone appeared to have a great time and the volunteers and local St. Albans police officers made the day run smoothly.
For our second year we tried to add some more elements to the event to bring more of the community out to enjoy the day. We recruited Maria Yoakum to help organize a great crop of local artisans and vendors.

Co-organizer Gina Frye also arranged for some Jupiter Jump type games for the children to enjoy.
This was a great day and we were able to raise around $3,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A $1,000 increase from last year, so apparenlty we are doing the right things and making the event larger and more successful.
Thanks again to all of our volunteers, the local St. Albans police department, all oif the amazing corporate and local business sponosrs with out you we ould not have this event. A great day for the community, families, cyclists, children, and the JDRF charity.
Special thanks to my co-organizers of the event Mr. John Casto, St. Albans city councilman, Mrs. Gina Frye , and Ms. Maria Yoakum.

Josh England a New Zealander of team Abercrombie & Fitch / Inferno Racing took home the first place honors in the Mens pro class race. For the women the young 16 year old Brook Crum of Fetish Cycles / Kenda worked hard in the competitive womens pack and she stayed behind the leader and then got a a great pull from her teammate and came through to take home first place for the women.
