HSSC Dev. WV Road squad RACE PRESS RELEASE:

Finally a road race in West Virginia! Actually, there are two races in the state. One in July called the Tour De Barbourand this one, The Mountain Road Classic in Kasson, WV. Both races are organized and put on by Thad Kelly of Sports & Spokes.

It is a shame we do not have more road races. With the abundance of talented cyclists here and with WV having so many great roads for races WV should have some type of road series and many more events. Every bordering state has road series’s and great race events.

Okay enough of my rant.

Sunday September 18 was a little foggy to start but by time 11:00 am rolled around the sun had broke through and temps were heating up. So were the racers.

With a mass start the cyclists began their 53 mile mountainous course through the Kasson area of WV.

With lots of volunteers and support cars the racers were never alone on the course.

Our HSSC Cat.2 cyclist Joe Stone stayed with the lead pack of 8 the whole race. 

Joe was able to sprint out at the finish and get 3rd place for the Cat.1,2,3 men class. Joe also captured 2nd place in the WV State Championship title.

Major props out to Joe. Congratulations.
