HSSC MTB RACE PRESS RELEASE:

Although July has just begun the WVMBA Fall Points Series had it’s first race this past Sunday to kick off the Fall Series..

Also,  called the WV State Championship because the fastest WV in each class is awarded the WV State Champion title.

The course consisted of a technical 10 mile course that the Experts and Sport class completed twice. The Experts also had to do one lap of the 7 mile beginner course.  The course was a mixture of double and single-track ladden with lots of rocks of all sizes.  Plus some mud bog puddles, a mile stretch of asphalt road and some crazy looking moon crater style rock climb / hike.

The HSSC WV MTB squad performed well to take home some podium finishes and WV State Champ titles.

Steve Thaxton hammered the course on his new Salsa frame to take first place in the Vet. Expert class. This also gave him the 2005 WV State Champ Title for his class.

I, Amy Dunkin raced in the Women’s Sport class. Still recovering from a pulled calf muscle I was hoping for a different style course instead of the power style course and then the hike up the moon rocks. Not feeling good the last 8 miles I rolled in for 2nd.

Lori Ware competed in the High School class for this race. She was maneuvering those baby head rocks like no body’s business. A great technical rider Lori captured 1st place in her class and the WV State Champ title for the third year in a row.

Congrats to Lori and Steve for their 1st place finishes and claiming the WV State Champ titles!!!
