HSSC MTB RACE PRESS RELEASE:
Summer has officially arrived with temps in the 90’s HSSC MTB squad raced the super dry course of the Appalachian Classic on Sunday.
The 7.2 mile course is classic WV riding. Roots, rocks, and sweet single-track. The Sport class racers completed two laps while the Expert class sweated out another lap for a total of 21.6 miles.
The HSSC WV MTB squad once again provided podium finishes.
Steve Thaxton sweated through 3 laps to conquer the Vet. Expert class. With a time of 2:01:18.
I, Amy Dunkin got 2nd place in the Sport class with a time of 1:57. After a pile up at the beginning things were smooth sailing. With plenty of pre-hydration before the race and some during race handoffs the day was great for me. Everything worked well.
Lori got 3rd place in the Sport class. She flatted on part of the first section of single-track but got it fixed and came in with a smile on her face.

This race was also the Spring Championship for the West Virginia Mountain Bike Associations Spring Points Series. And the HSSC MTB squad finished with some great placements.
